Rules for Taking Basal Temp:

• Glass Basal Thermometer is broken down to 1/10
  for slight differences in temperature
• 3 hours of consecutive sleep
• slip thermometer in mouth at same time each morning
• taken at the same time each morning
  if taken early - add 1/10 for each 1/2 hour
  if taken late - subtract 1/10 for each 1/2 hour
  • If normally taken at 6:00 a.m.
  • 98.1 taken @ 6:30 a.m. adjust to 98.0
  • 97.6 taken @ 5:00 a.m. adjust to 97.8

  Hormone levels cause basal temperature changes:

• Your temps will be low prior to ovulation
  Dominant Hormone = Estrogen
• Your temps will be higher after ovulation
  Dominant Hormone = progesterone
